I heard of some drink that you mix with wine and put in a crock pot but I haven't been able to find a recipe. Any suggestions? Need this ASAP? Also.........need ideas for kids games for ANOTHER party for my 12 yr old son and his friends..........

Answer:
Very simple- mix apple cider and Hot Damn! in a crock pot.
For Kids: Dare or true(truth). It's cool game for 12yrs odl kids. You should know the rules.
Modern yet Traditional Mulled Wine Recipe:

2 lemons
2 oranges
1 - 750 ml bottle of medium, to full, bodied red wine Nutmeg (to taste)
Cloves (to taste)
1 oz brandy or Cognac (or to taste)
1 cup (250 ml) granulated sugar (optional)
Herbal or citrus influenced tea (optional but excellent)
Water (optional softener instead of tea)
4 large cinnamon sticks
4 candy canes

Instructions for making four large portions
-Cut lemons and oranges into slices.
-Pour the red wine into saucepan and gradually heat.
-Add fruit slices, nutmeg, cloves and brandy.
-Keep an eye on the mixture and wait until it becomes hot to the touch.
-At this point you could blend in sugar or water (if desired).
-Pour into glasses/mugs and add tea (to taste).
-Garnish with cinnamon stick and candy cane.

Serve

As mentioned earlier, premixing the ingredients and microwaving it by the glass/mug full is just as easy.
Recipe: Holiday Punch
Category: Christmas Cooking for Kids
Age: preschool, kindergarten, elementary
Kids love this holiday cooler!

20 oz unsweetened frozen strawberries
46 oz pineapple juice
lime sherbet
orange slices
Puree strawberries in blender. Combine in punch bowl with pineapple juice. Float orange slices on top of liquid for decoration. When serving, pour into punch glasses. Top with a dollop of lime sherbet.
Put 2 gallons of apple cider (the brown stuff with pulp), into a large stock pot. Add about a half dozen large sticks of cinnamon. Not candy, but real cinnamon... Add a 1/4 cup of whole cloves, 2 oranges broken up into wedges, and then mix in apple schnapps and cinammon scnapps to taste? Warm it over low heat, and then reduce to simmer to keep it warm
Isn't there that 'Tom and Jerry' mix that comes in a pint size plastic container(shaped like a cottage cheese container)? That requires brandy, I believe. Also, Jameson Irish whiskey in coffee is good, but probably more for your guests who really like to drink.
Good Luck!
Try brandy , grape juice and wine in this proportion:
1:8:3
As for the kids, specially boys , the best way to entertain them is through commando games - an obstacle course race for instance. I hope you have plenty of space though.....
40 cup coffee maker, 3 bottles of Southern Comfort, mix your own!!

What about hot spiced cider. Apple cider or juice heated, add Rum of your choice, butter if you like, and cinnamon.

Games: Charades, Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Jenga, Twister

good luck, have fun!!
milk and coconut rum.. chilled or with ice..enjoy
Tom & Jerry's. You can get the Trader Vic's mix in many stores. You take the batter, hot water, brandy and stir. Top with nutmeg. Very good, warm and yummy!
What you're looking for is mulled wine. Also called wassail. In Germany, it's made with a bunch of spices in a tea bag. If you go to a German store it's called "Gluhwein". There's an umlaut over the "u". All you have to do is dump red wine in and add the bag. Dead easy.

Even easier: Buy Sangria in a box wine - I think it comes in five liter boxes and costs around $13.00. Put in crockpot with cinnamon sticks and three or four cloves. Heat through. Be careful not to serve cloves in drinks!

As for your son's party.... is this a birthday party or a Christmas party? Twelve is a tough age to entertain kids during the winter. Is this at home or at school? If it's at school, be sure to clear this with the teacher, first. Also, it's always a good idea to experiment with the below suggestions before the party.

I showed the kids how to make silly putty for one party, sent the recipe home, but NOT the silly putty!. Did some experiments with dry ice and other science experiments. They said it was the coolest party ever. You can find the recipe for silly putty here:

My son's teacher really appreciated the fact that I explained the science behind what I was doing.
