I am planning to buy a BBQ grill this summer. We are two at home and sometimes expect a few more couples. We dont want a very big or expensive grill. Charcoal is a strict no-no and Natural Gas Grill is not an option in the rented apartment. So its come down to Propane and Electric.

Answers:
Gotta be propane.

I have a basic, entry-level propane Weber, and it has "Flav-R-Bars" (how hokey does that sound?!) but they really do add flavor. They are like an upside-down V, and meat juices and fat fall on them and make smoke, which flavors the meat.

Other Answers:
i say if you really want a charcoal grill charcoal is the best but since is not possible try propane the tank last a long time it you don't use it every day but i thin that electric it to much hard to control the temp. well good luck

Do electric. It is cheaper in the long run. Cause you pay electricity bill anyway (assuming).

Propane is also good, but you need to refill the tank. I would stick to electric.

Happy BBQ

it depends how you use it, yahoo!!! friend I would guess Propane is cheaper.

Gas Grill.

You can do a small feasibility study on your own. For example, you can check to see how much power the electric grill consumes (in Watts and multiply that by 3600 to get it in kW.h). Then based on how much your local Electrical Utility Company charges per kW.h you can calculate your cost per month or whatever time period you wish. Then compare that value to how much gas you would consume for the other case, taking into account the initial purchase cost for both cases.

From my experience however, I always found electric grills or stoves to be the better choice, for one main reason; They are much safer around the house than propane (for example: leaving the gas tap open by mistake could cause fire or personal injuries). First things first... Local fire codes or lease retrictions may prohibit the use of outdoor grills @ an apartment except in designated common areas. Check with your management first as those fines can be HEFTY!

Now, if you are permitted to use a grill @ your apartment, then propane is more energy efficient as it is a *raw* energy source. Electricity is manufactured and is always more costly.
