How about a theme party -- YOU need to decide on the theme and food -- you know her the best, is she casual or more formal. Then each person brings a dish with that theme (Italian, Picnic, BBQ, etc). Then find a radio station that she likes, and have it playing in the background (not too loud, you want to hear conversations). MAKE a cake around the theme you have chosen - anyone can be creative, just stop and think. If you have a tropical theme, make a layer cake, use little umbrellas (they are very cheap), beach blankets out of fruit roll-ups, life savers next to a graham cracker boat, etc, etc. -- you CAN do this. She will be more impressed with 'what' you did more that the $$ you spent. God Bless and good luck -- don't forget to just have fun celebrating her birthday!!
