My family and i have parties once in a while but my mom is scared that ahe might get in trouble. We live in Louisiana, so does anyone know the laws for underage drinking on privet property?

Answers:
Being from Louisiana and having hosted drinking parties, I can tell you that the authorities can prosecute your parents, or anyone over the age of 21 and knowingly letting them drink, and hold them liable if it is found out that the parents KNEW about the drinking. My brother threw a party once and the police showed up to bust it. I had to drive over to the house only to find my drunk underaged brother babbling to the police about how he wasnt drunk among other things. My father was then contacted and was told about the party, which he had no knowledge of. The police told him that if my father HAD known, he could have been charged.

The only exception to this rule would be if your parents allowed YOU to drink in their presence and only YOU, no friends. Otherwise, parents cannot let other kids drink.

Hope this helps

Law 101:
don't get caught

That only the adults get to have alcohol. I'm not an attorney, but I would guess that this comes under the heading of "Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor." I think in most states this is a felony and jail time could be possible. Your mom would be wise to not allow underage people, particularly ones that are not her children, to drink alcohol in her home. Also, irrespective of the age of the drinker, the host of a party can be held legally liable if a guest drives home drunk and causes an accident due to DWI or DUI.

Yup the law is if you guys get caught
she goes to jail for the crime of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
by statute:
Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile (LRS 14:92)

Go to the library and look in the legal books specific for your state. Im a reference librarian in South Carolina, and we have the Code of Laws for the whole state of SC, and if your library has that for your state, in would be in the index. You might need help finding what to look under, but trust me, its there. There are also legal books that are put out by Nolo and Sphinx Legal that might also be of some help. SIMPLE ITS ILEAGLE YOU ARE RESPONSABLE AS THE ADULT FOR CONTRIBUTING TO MINORS. AND ANY THING THAT HAPPENS DURRING OR AFTER THE PARTY IS ON YOU. YOU COULD SERVE JAIL TIME LOOSE YOUR HOME AND SO ON, ITS NOT A GOOD IDEA, NOT TO MENTION DEALING WITH THE PARENTS OF THE KIDS WHO LIED AND GOT BUSTED, AND THEY WILL

Your mom could be busted with a contributing to a minor charge. If one of those kids got hurt on or off your property you could be sued. Wisen up!

I'M SURE THIS ISN'T THE ANSWER YOU WANT TO SEE!!!!

It's quite simple. It's illegal. The parents that have the party can go to prison, loose their home and the children of those parents can end up in foster care and become wards of the state. Not to mention what if someone got hurt or worse killed as a result of drinking at the party or hurt someone/killed someone else? Oh and the LAW SUITS from other parents...

You shouldn't be drinking anyway! Life happens soon enough.

If your mom has thrown parties in the past, and she's reading this... STOP TRYING TO BE YOUR CHILDRENS FRIEND AND THEIR BUDDIES FRIEND AND BE THE ADULT!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't not have underage drinking parties for your kids and their friends because you are afraid you are going to get in trouble.. You don't have them because it's just flat out WRONG!!!!!

The PARENTS of the minor are allowed to give the minor an alcoholic beverage at a private party. The HOSTESS of a party is NOT. She is right to be fearful. She could wind up in jail and/or broke from being sued. Respect her boundaries and don't push her.

Yes, I'm in Louisiana.

Foolish, Don't!! im stoned.
