I have dishes made especially for corn on the cob. They are the shape of an ear of corn. A friend of mine(straight, male) says they are trashy and embarassing. Are they or are they just fun?

Since corn on the cob wouldn't be served OTHER than at a very casual meal, the presentation can be as casual and campy as you like. Don't forget the little skewers to stick in each end. Your friend is perhaps from a "trashy" background and overcompensating a little?

I currently don't have anything that cute in my kitchen.. my husband gets annoyed enough with all my Starbucks style to-go coffee mugs. They are fun! Just like those little corn cobs you stick in the ends of the ear to make it easier to eat!

The word isn't trashy, it's kitschy. Kitsch can be fun. Your frind is a snob, so don't invite him over for corn on the cob. The rest of us can enjoy your special dishes beacuse they will be just right for holding on to the melted butter on the bottom.
