Answer:
>Lemonade/Limeaid/Cherry-Limeai...
Shirley Temples (Cherry Juice/Ginger Ale or Selzer)
Fresh fruit juices
Get frozen berries, puree them, strain them, add water and sugar (or splenda)
Use different flavored sugar-free Kool-Aid ice cubes for fun....Cherry Juice with Lime flavored Kool-Aid ice cubes, etc...)
Low-fat yogurt smoothies (lactaid,soy, 1%, 2% and skim)
Low-fat shakes
Cold Hot Chocolate (Chocolate milk, but add whipped cream and chococlate shavings)
Juice boxes are the easiest, but you can get colorful cups and covers with fun bendy straws and it looks a lot more festive then Juicy Juice juice boxes.
If you definitely want to have a soft drink at your child's party, I'd go with a clear variety like 7-Up or Sprite. I would steer clear of the flavored waters like Aquafina puts out, as many of those have aspartame and children are not supposed to consume aspartame. The idea of doing a punch where you mix fruit juices with a clear soda is pretty good compromise. It gives you the fizziness that your kids will like but it will have some healthier content to it. Be sure to find a kid friendly mix of flavors.
Diet drinks are not good for children. Gatorade is a good choice on hot days if they are playing outside in hundred degree weather, but it contains more sugar than a regular coke (which isn't good, either). The smoothie idea is a great one. The kids would probably love to help make them, and choose their own ingredients. If water is your choice, though, use food coloring to entice children to drink it. It doen't change the taste, and it really is the best thing for them.
Apple juice.
I ALWAYS HAVE JUICE BAGS NO MESS YOU CAN USE A SHARPIE TO WRITE THIER NAMES ON THE BAGS.IF THEY R TOO YOUNG TO READ MAKE IT A LITTLE SPECIAL ASK FOER A SIMPLE PICTURE TO DRAW ON IT SO THEY CAN REMEMBER ITS THIER BAG
To cut down on the amount of pop. Try having fruit juice and adda bit of clud soda for fizz.
reduced sugar ribena cordial made up with soda water, fizzy juice without the yuk in it, my kids love it and have no idea it is not from a can
I would definately go for fruit smoothies or yoghurt drinks. Much better than low calorie drinks.
Gingerale and Orange Sherbert
Fruit cocktails!! The youngsters will love them, or make a fruit punch!!
Anything from Trader Joes like Apple Juice. If you think it is too sweet, just dilute with water. Or you can do a drink mix like, kool aide and not add sugar. Or you can brew tea and mix it with a fav fruit drink that your kids like. that way it will be less sweet and they will be less likely to suffer from a sugar high. Hope this helps.
sparkling water mixed with fruit juice/ squash/ on its own, kiddies LOVE the fizz!
A Very Intense Fruit Smoothie
"Gorgeous color and absolutely refreshing. Use your favorite canned fruit - I prefer peaches or pears."
INGREDIENTS
1 (10 ounce) package frozen mixed berries
1 (15 ounce) can sliced peaches, drained
2 tablespoons honey
DIRECTIONS
In a blender, combine frozen fruit, canned fruit and honey. Blend until smooth.
Juice slush - fresh fruit juice, either a single variety or a combination (orange, cranberry, apple, pineapple, etc), whizzed in a blender with lots of ice. Serve with wide straws they can slurp through - the ice cuts the sweetness of the juice and therefore the sugar, and the texture makes it fun and interesting for them.
Various fruit juices mixed diet lemonade - or sparkling water. Put them into large clear jugs and serve in clear plastic cups and it can be healthy, and thirst quenching and colourful. Remember to get pure juice not "juice drink" as this contains sugar.
