isopropyl acetate. I had to synthesize it once in a lab class, and all I could smell was overwhelming banana smell for 5 hours. It was awful. I couldn't eat bananas for years. THe amazing thing is that it smelled EXACTLY like banana, even the creamy-ness. Which I thought would be unrelated.
I didn't taste it of course, because lab glass is dirty and I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of it. But since it's what gives bananas their flavor I'm going to have to stick by my answer.
