I had a great meal in Old Orleans near the micklegate bridge. It does pretty good food at moderate prices and has a good bar. It is near a lot of attractions and night spots and does some great vegetarian dishes too.
There are also several good pubs on Goodramgate that serve food. The Last Drop Inn near the Shambles has good food too (and a fantastic real ale selection if you like good beers).
Have a great meal wherever you choose to go!

I was once stranded over night, in York due to my hire car breaking down. I swear I found the best fish and chip shop in the whole world.

If you fancy a nice Sunday Roast or a mouthwatering jacket potato, you should definitely go to The Roman Bath Pub. I had the best carvery lunch here, highly recommended! The jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise is gorgeous, you get loads of tuna and it′s served with salad and their lovely home made coleslaw.
The atmosphere in the pub is great and if you want to go a bit cultural, you can even visit the remains of the Roman baths underneath the pub.
You can find the Roman Bath on St. Sampson's Square.
