Because it is orange in colour!!! So people called it orange!! The word for orange in Spanish is naranja, much more melodious. Also the name of the color.

I dont know why didn't you think up a better nickanme for yourself zsconos? LOL- Orange is ok..What would you have called them? There are also Blood Oranges which have a reddish pulp if that is more interesting for you.
