why? would you want to pay the bill, its a tradition i have no problems with. Its a mans job to take care of woman and it always has been, you can offer to split in, or when your in a relationship taking turns is fine, but never on a first date ever

It is just tradition. Even men who don't like this feel insulted when you offer to pay. Feels like you are blowing us off. If you offer to treat once in a while, in advance, that is always welcome, just dont spring it on us at the time to pay.
