To be honest, it's not that bad if the cereal is really sweet cuz you dont even notice. But i cant imagine eating corn flakes or something really plain like that with water.
Well I'v done that by accidently and i is not that pleasent. but try it with pee! LOL Just kidding

I have mine with skim milk which is like white water lol, but no way would i have it with water, i agree, dry would be better.
