Two weeks ago I bought a bag of brown sugar. After I opened it, I put it into a plastic container with a secure lid. Today, it's hard as a rock. How do I keep it fresh??

Add a slice of bread or a chunk of apple to the container. It'll be soft in a day.
ziplock bag but you gotta keep the air out.
by placing a terra cotta disk inside the container with the brown sugar(don't know why but this works)
Keep it in a jar with a marshmallow
Keep a couple of fresh crackers in with the brown sugar to keep it soft.
To loosen it up after it gets hard, microwave it for about 20 seconds and it'll get soft again.
drop a slice of bread in the bag.
If you want to soften the stuff you have, just put it in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds
Put a bun or piece of bread in with the brown sugar. Also, keep it in the bag it comes in. When you close the bag, squeeze out as much air as possible.
To soften the brown sugar in your container you can microwave it for a few seconds.
put it in like a zip lock bag...even with a secure lid, air still gets in.
A saltine cracker will absorb the moisture. Other things work well so the bread may work and the Terra cotta will work too.
Some folks say to keep brown sugar moist, store in an airtight container with a whole orange, lemon, or lime. Others say put in a piece of bread.
Others say just put it in an airtight plastic container (which involves more than just a tight lid).
If it was air tight it should not have gotten hard. You can soften it in the microwave.
By putting it on my cereal.
Yummy-lious.
Try the clay coins/bears; for $3 you can't beat it. I have one and it works great!
Keep it in the freezer. This totally works. The sugar is soft right out of the freezer, so no need to "thaw" it prior to measuring it out. I've had a bag for over a year and it's in perfect condition.
ZIPLOC.....
if it isn;t in a bag that has a zipper seal n it then put it in a ziploc bag and then put it in the plastic container with a slice of bread and it wil soften up. I do this al the time
