Is herb tea by definition decaffeinated?

Answers:
No, it is only decaffeinated when stated so on the packaging.

its not.

Technically, tea can only be called tea if it came from the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). If its like from chamomile, jasmine, ginseng or anything else, it's not a tea but an infusion. Which is caffeine free. Only the tea from the tea plant has caffeine, like green tea, oolong tea, black tea, sencha etc.

yes herb tea is decaf.I love herb tea . There are fruit herb teas and is cafferine -free too .Some herb teas, fruit herb teas make great ice tea too.

"Tea" comes from Tea Plant which naturally contains caffiene (black, white, and green teas).

"Tisane" is the proper term given to a drink containing herbs and caffiene is not present in herbs.

Herbal "tea" does not usually have caffeine, although mate is caffeinated and is typically considered an herbal "tea".
