as far as the oreo thing goes i did a little research a while ago because i didnt believe it either and what i found out is, oreos are made in a bunch of different factories and for some reason some factories use dairy, and others dont it depends on where you live on whether your oreos are vegan or not. i know the peanut butter ones are where i live in ohio.
also what i have found thats suprisingly vegan is cookie crisp, my favorite cereal. but if you are interested here is a link that has alot of stuff that is vegan that you may not have known. I've been vegan 4 months and i have found this list helpful especially being a college student, its not always easy.

Yes, oreos (the normal ones, not the fudge ones) are vegan now (They weren't a couple of years ago.)
They originally contained lard.
Imitation bacon bits are the most surprising thing for me. (Not all brands, but a lot of them.)
Spring rolls. I dont think it's the most surprising vegan food, but i think it's ONE such vegan food that taste really good without any hint of meat.
The spring roll wrappers are made from rice paper and the ingredients (if vegetable spring roll) are all vegetables e.g. vermicelli (thin rice noodles) carrots, lettuce, white radish. Even the oil used to fry it is vegetable oil. So everything from start to finish is all vegan
Pillbury cream cheese frosting. I was really craving carrot cake with cream cheese frosting so, although I thought I'd be dissapointed, I looked at the lable anyway. I was very surprised myself. There's no cream cheese or even milk products in it. Oreos have changed their recipe and no longer contain lard so judging by the lable, their vegan too.

lol, laughing at your comment about ribs-we knew it would happen!! I think its easier to answer whats NOT vegan, thats a surprise. I was surprised to learn that "enriched" products, such as cereal, pasta, rice, and flour, are not vegan. The vitamins are derived from animals! Dorittos chips have animal derived ingredients. Many vitamins and supplements are as well, as is "natural" flavors and colors! We are surrounded by dead animals and idiots I am afraid. Oh, well, surely you got the laugh you anticipated.
i was pleasantly surprised to find out that Apple Jacks are vgean. hooray! :-)
Actually, I saw a thumbs down on the pop tarts answer, but I am pretty sure that the non-iced pop tarts are vegan. I think I was that on the www.goveg.com website.
I coolest thing that I have found was Bisquick (or at least I heard it was) If it's true, that's pretty cool because it can be used for so many things. I'm hoping it's true, I've been telling my kids that it is.
