Hey, last guy who answered? You're right. Just because you're acting like an asshole doesn't mean I should.

Studies of human evolution have shown that our ancestors were vegetarian by nature. The structure of the human body is not suited for eating meat. This was demonstrated in an essay>------------------------------...

Ecology and the Environment
Raising animals for meat has its consequences. It leads to rain forest destruction, global heatrising, water pollution, water scarcity, desertification, misuse of energy resources, and world hunger. The use of land, water, energy, and human effort to produce meat is not an efficient way to use the earth's resources.
Since 1960, some 25% of Central America's rain forests have been burned and cleared to create pasture for beef cattle. It has been estimated that every four ounce hamburger made from rain forest beef destroys 55 square feet of tropical rain forest. In addition, raising cattle contributes significantly to the production of three gases which cause global warming, is a leading cause of water pollution, and requires a staggering 2464 gallons of water for the production of each pound of beef. good question..

Some people have issues with animal cruelty more than eating another animal. Or they have religious beliefs that dictate that we avoid harming animals in any way. Or they need to do so for health reasons.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I can respect someone who is... as long as they do it properly and not try to force people to adhere to their lifestyle.

humans were not designed to be vegetarian
we are omnivores
the "western" diet does have too much meat generally but meat is still an important source of many nutrients

Hmm. No, only some animals eat animals.

We're not built as carnivores or omnivores so are incapable of hunting in our natural, naked form for living creatures. Our intestines are of herbivore design. Our canines aren't really canines. We are poor runners when it comes to running to hunt. We walk on two legs. We don't have claws. We're about as uncarnivorous and unomnivorous as it gets. I'm not saying a chicken wing will kill you, but meat is linked to stomach cancer and other diseases with regular consumption.

If we thought about what we put in our bodies before we opened our mouths, cancer would be an irregularity rather than a common occurance in our society. It's a bit like the milk myth. Drink lots of milk! It's full of calcium! Yes, it has calcium but milk also leaches calcium from bones, causes allergies and is riddled with blood and pus cells. Green veg is the best source of calcium.

Read The China Study to see what the Western meat and dairy diet has on the human body.

“In this project, however, I uncovered a dark secret. Children who ate the highest protein diets were the ones most likely to get liver cancer...”

In all, the meat industry makes people very rich. And busy people love to eat and not care about anything.

... and for the record, it's not just about animals. Right now, land in Africa is being used to grow animal feed to fatten up UK animals. That's demented. Animal farming is one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Rainforests are being torn down for farming and for animal feed (don't confuse soya for animal feed with organically grown soya that vegetarians eat).

BTW- it's pretty lame that people come on here slagging off the vegetarian lifestyle in a vegetarian and vegan section. Don't you have anything better to do? Like cleanse your colon? Floss the meat from your teeth? Tut tut

Several reasons:

1. To prove they're lonely and desperate for attention.

2. To advance a socio-political agenda.

3. They actually believe that animals think like us, react like us, talk like us and dance and sing in sun-drenched meadows when we aren't around.

4. They have the I.Q. of a mushroom and accept what their friends tell them without question.

5. They've never been around an animal other than their Aunt Betsy's cat.

6. They accept bad science, simply because it makes sense to their tiny minds.

.

Being a vegetarian is a choice.I've been one for five years, when I decided to give up meat forever.I never liked meat really. As a child I never ate that much meat,I ate a lot of fruit and vegetables.Yeah, ure right some animals eat other animals, but I did not think of that when I became a vegetarian.I just feel better this way.I have more energy and I'm much healthier. It's just a matter of choice, nothing more.

After all, animals eat plants.

There is such thing as an herbivore, you know.

Besides, we have the choice, those animals don't. Name 10 advantages to eating meat, and DO NOT say taste (that is not an important factor) or protein (animal protein is the worst kind of protein there is for you).

Advantages to NOT Eating Meat (excluding animal rights)

Less fat
Less cholesterol by excluding meat, no cholesterol excluding all animal products
Don't contribute as much to global warming (by cutting down so many trees to make room for so much cattle, you are contributing to global warming without even bringing up methane)
Less bacteria in your food (you do realize we have to cook meat in order to get rid of just SOME of the bacteria we can't handle, right?)
Milk is treated as an intruder by your body (we are the only mammals that drink another mammal's milk, and dairy is for the baby, not for us, and is designed to make that baby cow grow so big, doesn't that make us grow into fat people? duh)
Average of 40% lower cancer rates, depending on the cancer type
Animals are pumped with hormones, antibiotics, etc. to make them grow larger. All this goes in your body.
Vegans and vegetarians have a higher average IQ than meat-eaters
If you're overweight, you can lose the extra fat
Less risk of Type 2 Diabetes
Leafy green vegetables help to prevent menstrual cramps
Meat contributes to impotence
Milk can cause birth defects and acne, as well as cause more arthritis symptoms

And SO many more are out there.

Let me begin by saying that I am omnivorous.

That being said: vegetarianism and/or veganism are choices, made by the individual. Period. There are aspects of ANY lifestyle choice (including diet) that other people may or may not have issue with.

For example, one could argue that from a traditional Judeao-Christian viewpoint (arguably the most "favored" viewpoint in the United States), humans have dominion over all (other) creatures. It is as we see fit to consume them, wear their fur/skin, use them as beasts of burden, etc. I personally do not own a team of oxen, but I do wear leather shoes. And I certainly eat meat.

Another point: the raising and consumption (in one way or another) of animals virtually insures the animals' survival. To put it another way: species have been saved from the brink of extinction by raising them as livestock (the buffalo, for example). Now, I'm not suggesting that we should start eating spotted owls or bald eagles (although I've heard that they both taste like dodo). There will never be a shortage of cows, sheep, chickens etc. because they play too great a role in the food chain. Yes, humans are at the top of that particular food chain, but keep in mind that it isn't a naturally occurring food chain...it was designed, and is perpetuated, by man.

i dont think humans should if they dont want to. we can always turn to the bible although it is very confusing because God says to treat them as equal and then you see God eating meat when hes around his followers. some people, like me for example, dont really like the feeling of eating meat after all it was killed for me to eat it. i think that the world can survive without meat but being a vegetarian is more an opinion of life.

that is a very good question

You're statment has no value at all.Animals eat animals.Animals take sh!ts wherever they want, should I take a sh!t in the street and say "Animals sh!t wherever they want!".Would that change the fact that I took a sh!t in the street? No.Just because animals kill other animals doesn't change the fact that you are killing an animal for dinner, especially when you can live without eating meat.

maybe you should take a look at this and see if you think this okay
