YOu need to focus on what your needs are. So try going to Old Navy, GAP, and even Banana Republic they have really nice but not to expenisve pieces, not to mention a wonderful staff to help you. Just explain to them your story, what you like and do not like, Also let them know its a casual affair, but not a jeans and a white tee event!

Bless your heart. Maybe you should wear a cute skirt (maybe not floor length, but around the knees) and a cute top or a nice pair of dark denim jeans with a more dressy top. I would stick to the skirt or even a cute little dress!

or a knee lenght skirt with a white silk blouse and pumps.
