im not all that fit 140 pounds 5'5 tall ive never really done any cardio other than walking and im trying to lose weight but more importantly i want to get fit and healthy

I am very fit, I work out between 5 and 6 days a week. there is no way I could jump rope for 30 minutes without stopping. Start with 45 seconds then work up to minute. in between your weight training do some plyometrics. example, jump squats and jumping rope. keep your heart rate up but don't kill yourself, I dont know many people who can jump for 30 minutes straight, mix it up with interval training. example, when you are walking, try running for a minute then gradually add on . if you are at a track, walk the straight a ways and run the curves. I did this it is good in the beginning, good luck

there is no right or wrong answer. start w/ something easy, don't overdo it. maybe try for 15 minues, it's harder than you think it will be. and then slowly work your way up. Some ppl say you need about 20-30 minutes of cardio, but that's to stay healthy. To burn calories you should aim for 30+ minutes a few times a week. And all that jazz, burn more than you intake. yadda yadda! Also try mixing it up, w/ swimming, walking, running etc.
