I've just started running again after a long season of cycling but when I run, I get terrible pain behind my knee caps. I used to run a lot but the pain was never there. Could there be something I'm missing in my diet? I'm only 22.
Answers:
No, it isn't your diet. You need to strengthen your quadraceps. Your knee cap is rubbing and pulling to one side. This is VERY common in women. Physical therapy will help.

if it's not growing pain, it might be that you are running on it too hard.I'm not a doctor though, so i'm not sure.

Try walking fast; that's one of the major reasons for not running.it's jarring to the joints. "Jarred Joints" lol.
Seriously, tho' running is NOT good for the joints. "Speed Walking" is VERY low-impact and good for your bod.

It could be anything really from the type of sneaker that your wearing to even your lack of water in your diet. Check with your doctor, since it never happened before. You may require an X-Ray and/or MRI scan to rule out a more serious problem - a painful knee could be due to arthritis, or a torn meniscus(torn cartilage). I assume you know that running is a high impact exercise and hard on your back, knees, feet. Worse yet if your not in the best shape. My advice is take some joint care supplements. If your doubtfull about taking those then at least take some glucosamine, whether it be liquid form or tablet form.

First of all if you want to run buy a mini trampolie. I find if I jog it takes the pressure off my knees. Running on concrete is the worst thing for your joints. It pounds the pavement.
