Four possibilities come to mind. If you are being treated by an endocrinologist (or a general practitioner who specializes in diabetes) this should be an old problem. Ask for a referral.
Second, check with a wound care center (at a hospital, for instance). They are ordinarily part of a physical therapy department. Much of their business is diabetic foot ulcers, and they will very likely know of podiatrists who know about diabetes in their area.
Third, there are specialty diabetes programs in many places. The Joslin Clinic has affiliate branches in many major cities.
Fourth, quite a few universities have attached medical schools and teaching hospitals. some even have podiatry schools. Any of these should be capable of providing a reference to a diabetes knowledgeable podiatrist.
Best of luck. Foot problems are amongst the most annoying that diabetes causes.
