Answers:
Painless swelling of the feet and ankles is a common problem, particularly in older people. It may affect both legs and may include the calves or even the thighs. Because of the effect of gravity, swelling is particularly noticeable in these locations.
Swollen legs, also called peripheral edema is the swelling of tissues, usually in the lower limbs, due the accumulation of fluids. Is commonly associated with ageing, but can be caused by many other conditions, including congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or liver failure. In these conditions, there is too much fluid in the body. You should see your doctor.
For home care:
Elevate your legs above your heart while lying down.
Exercise your legs. This helps pump fluid from your legs back to your heart.
Wear support stockings (sold at most drug and medical supply stores).
Try to follow a low-salt diet, which may reduce fluid retention and swelling.
Good luck!!
Other Answers:
you could be retaining fluids my lower legs near my ankles swell because i retain fliuds the blood pressure med i'm on also controls fliud retention and if i don't take it every day i see the swelling start
The medical term for this condition is called edema, or retaining water for whatever reason. Are you on meds, which may be causing this? Check with your doctor.
