Is diet related to the erosion of enamel of the molars on the Occlusal surfaces?
Answer:
yes i cant tell you as i heard a doctor a dentist on TV this summer talking about Gatorade and similar drinks and he said that they were OK if you drink them like you would a coffee or something just as long as you don't sip the stuff all day long as that can damage the enamel on your teeth .
well, my dentist tells me that gatorade is very high in fructose, or sugar, so it can cause cavities, but it dosen't have the same effect as soda, which because of carbonation has a high level of acidity which is very bad for your teeth. gatorade is usually thought of as a healthy drink, because it replaces electrolytes lost when exercising/doing sports, but now they say the sugar level it has is pretty bad i guess. seems everything has a down side anymore.
Fresh, healthy orange juice is about the worst thing you can drink in terms of tooth damage, far worse then Gatorade of any soda. Of course, if you CLEAN YOUR TEETH regularly none of it matters!
