A new study shows that 31% of US teenagers admit to drinking energy drinks. Why?

Answer:
Energy drinks are essentially a large dose of caffeine and sugar. First, the sugar -- at quantities this large (some are like eating 8-10 spoons of cane sugar), it's terrible for your teeth and more importantly has to be broken down into energy by your body and this takes a lot of fluid. Ironically, this means that your body is dehydrated by the process, which isn't what it needs when you're on the go...your brain, muscles and organs suffer. Caffeine has always had mixed reviews, but it too is a diuretic with the same results as above -- certainly a bad 1-2 punch.

In general, any "artificial" boost that you submit your body to makes it deal with a nutritional experience that evolution-wise we weren't "built" to handle. While we can handle it one by one, it certainly doesn't improve the delicate chemistry of your body. The very best way to get a natural boost when you need it is plenty of water (to support the entire body that thrives on fluids) and complex carbohydrates, which are the medium-term energy providers that your body can best use.
Energy drinks may be good especially after an perspiring i.e. after a ball game, a jog or etc. But if you're eating heavy meals for example fast foods i.e. french fries, fish and chips and etc. try balance it by having plain water by your side as too much oil intake with high sugar intake may cause you to suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure.
Evil I feel like my heart is going to explode.

There was another study done! And if you have too much energy drink in a set amount of time it can cause severe problems later on in life such as kidney failure. Because in each can or bottle there is generally more than one serving. And people are putting down 2-3 bottles of the stuff each day!
It depends on what energy drinks you are talking about. If it is the ones in the cans with all the sugar and caffeine, then those are bad for you. There is a new powder one out that you mix with water that doesn't have any sugar or the caffeine that is in those cans. So on the majority, they aren't that great.

There was an article called "What are the effects of amped up energy drinks?" that just came out from the Associated Press. Here is the link: http://www.click2houston.com/health/1019...
