I've heard people say you're not supposed to squeeze your teabag when you're done with it...however, none can tell me exactly why. My Mom always squeezes her teabags and so have I.

Why/Why not squeeze your teabag??

Answers:
JB , it depends on your taste and aroma expectation. Good light tea can be made by just dipping tea bag into the plain hot water, some people those who desire strong taste they add one more tea bag.
Few others gently press the teabag to get gentle tea.
Few others squeeze? teabags to get bitter/strong taste i e squeezed tea.
Try light, gentle one if you like that you can switch over or morning you can have squeezed tea, afternoon light tea and evening time gentle tea.
Any way tea making is an art, I am doing that from the past 30 years. I am sipping my gentle tea ( here also you find variety) while answering your Q. Thank you for your squeezing Q.

i know i do.though im not sure if ur supposed to

squeesing your teabag makes the tea a bit stronger- so if you like it just continue with it! I'm not sure why you shouldn't. I learned to from my dad and I have ever since. It's a ritual for me. I use a spoon to get the bag out of the water, wrap the string around tthe bag, and use the little paper to press the bag against the spoon. I say squeeze away!

well, teas like black or orange pekoe have alkyloids in them one of which is tannin, which is bitter. if'n you sqeeeeeze the bags at the end, you're more likely to get a sourish bite to the tea, you may like this, some people do. but if you like a less bitter tea, don'tcha sqeeeeeze the bags.now, how about a cup of tea?

I always squeeze the tea bag and that way it doesn't drip or leave a little puddle. I always squeeze my teabag when I'm done with it, but I leave the bag in my tea the entire time I'm drinking it, since I like my tea very strong. I see nothing wrong with squeezing it or not squeezing it. Personal preference. The people who have told you it is "bad" are tea snobs!

It gets more of the tea out. My mom and sister do it all the time, and I tried to it but the tea made it all steaming hot so I was like "CRAP!"

NO! Never, ever squeeze the tea bag. It's like Ghostbusters crossing the streams. Something unimaginably terrible will happen. I normally squeeze my tea bag i guess i just got used to doing after a while.

I have been told that it releases more of the bitter oils that are in the tea leaves. If you don't mind your tea being a little more bitter, I don't think it will hurt anything.

I squeeze my teabags when there done
