That Melissa... she said a lot of good stuff... but the fact of the matter is that there are an infinite number of teas... just like coffees. Every herbal combination is its own variety. Come on!! You cant know it all. The best you can hope for is to know as much as you can. You can learn the various ways of describing teas flavors... maybe even identify the teas by taste. Also, it may be good to learn the herbal remedies.

My personal favorites are Earl Grey, Chamomile, and something called "Sleepy Time", I think.
What I did was me and a few of my coworkers decided to try some new teas. We all picked something we thought we might like. Brought it to work. And brewed individual flavors to see how they tasted. Then after a few weeks we decided to blend flavors. Now we have recipes and different types of teas that we like. I like green, white, and black tea. We started out with celestial brand teas and now we order different brands through catalogs and online. My all time favorite is Rasberry zinger mixed with Blueberry and Madagasgar Red.
I hope this was some help to you. I didn't think I liked tea this much until I tried it with my coworkers.
i found this site http://www.adagio.com/flavors/ maybe by reading through you could get some ideas on how to make your own flavoured teas.
happy tea drinking

Also learn the brewing methods.
And remember, always use the loose one, not the tea bags..
