Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Was coca cola right to sue the portland public schools for getting rid of soda d),it will help you,my kids.
Answer:
no
not at all
Only if they had a contract with the school district, or kids aren't allowed to bring their own.
if they broke a contract, yes. they had to have good reason for sueing, they don't have hack lawyers working there.
If they had a contract with Portland Pub. Schools, then they had the legal right. Many school districts and other organizations will enter into contracts with certain suppliers such as Coca-Cola whereas the product, Coca-Cola, is sold in the schools and the schoolsl get part of the profits.
Were they right morally, since I'm sure Portland was trying to fight the amount of sugar in kids' diets? I think they were wrong in that sense.
I applaud PPS for getting of sodas in the schools... its bad enough the crap we feed our kids with school lunches.. if they eat them... but also the crap we let them buy... nachos, lil debby snacks... aren't we supposed to be teaching them to take care of their bodies, or are we to stuck on the 'free will' approach to our children's nutrition?
Fact is, food & drink suppliers need to be more responsible in the stuff they peddle to all of us. Sugar, salt, caffiene are all BAD. So I say remove the crap from public schools and let the kids have nutritious snacks and nutritious drinks.
If they breached their contract with Coca Cola, heck yeah. The gov't can't interfere with legal commerce just because the feel like it!
No. It's a free country. The schools can sell it , OR NOT! They chose NOT.
Coca-cola machines and their products are still sold in Portland Public Schools. They don't sell the soft drinks, but they do dispense Coca-Cola brand's water products (Dasani), and juices. Coca-Cola hasn't sued Portland Public Schools.
