Answers:
because it's a diuretic ... at least the caffeinated ones are. That's why they tell you not to drink too much of them when you are pregnant.

Other Answers:
Because its carbonated...
because it takes more water to digest the soda than the soda has in it
carbonation
Sugar...
That is how they get you so you drink more, i drink water
It's because of the sugar. Drink you a BIG glass of water to quench your thirst.
Because of the sugar in it. I much prefer ice water with a bit of lemon when I am thirsty.
caffeine is a diuretic stick with non-caffinated and u will find the problem solved Tammy D noted the best thirst quencher there is
BECAUSE IT HAS SODIUM IN IT.which causes you to get thirsty
most sodas have sodium content, like drinking salt water.
because it's full of sodium.marketing ploy?
Yes, it's the carbonation factor.
the salt content
It's the sugar in the drink that makes you thirsty. Sodas are good for flavor, but un-carbonated un-sugared drinks are much better to kill a thirst. (Not to mention better for the kidneys)
If it has caffeine in it, caffeine dehydrates you. That might be a reason why.
to me id\s that sometimes soda is just enough you need a water and then your thirst will end
You're very dehydrated. Soda doesn't quench your thirst, only water does.

Get in the habit of drinking water. Make it your primary drink everyday.
because its full of sugar and that sucks the water right out of your system. if you drank your 8 glasses of water a day, and then had 1 pop, you just cut the water you drank to 4 glasses. thats how bad pop is for you.

Does the soda have caffiene? If so,that is why,and carbonation is less filling, because you belch it up. Caffiene is an appetite suppressant, but it also makes you thirsty because of the soduim and caffiene.

Because the composition of soda drinks doesn't actually quench your thirst, it acts as a de-hydrant in your body. You're really drinking it because you crave the sugar. To quench your thirst you need to drink real water, you know, the H20 stuff.
If it has caffiene, then it's because caffiene actually dehydrates you. It could also be because the sugar coats your mouth and makes you feel thirsty, because you feel like you need to rinse it out. Try water instead.
Because of all of the sugar in it. If you notice after you eat something sweet you're always thirsty. Same thing with a drink.
Sugar makes you want more to drink. Water quenches your thirst.
