This is going to sound like a weird & very specific question, but what is a serving of cheese?
Not in ounces (I don't have a scale that measure in ounces), but in slices. Like, say I have a hunk of cheese this big: http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10...
and a normal cheese slicer.
Would a serving be one slice? Two slices?

2 slices(lthe size of the regular sliced cheese).
I think if you are slicing the Cracker Barrel cheese, it would take 4 slices to equal the size of 2 regular slices.
In case you ever do get a scale ,it would be 2 oz.
Personally, I'd say that it depends on how expensive the cheese is and how it tastes in the mouth. (depending on the point of view) If I was serving cheese at a party, I would not want to give each person a big hunk per person if expensive. And as the guest, I would not want to have a big piece if the cheese was too tasteful or odorful. Just a small bit with cracker would be more appropriate. I once was given a pre cut long wedge of brie to have with crackers (after it was warmed in the oven, he was a chef) and the melty mess was hard to deal with and didn't taste very good, so it was a bit embassassing to ditch the rest of it, since I took it. Hope that helps.
Ok, Now I understand.. personally, on toast, I when I use a metal wire cutter with the roller, I'd cut half the thickness that it allows, then again, for the other corner of the toast. I use my slicer all the time to cut tiny pieces, that thick to go with round bologna slices and have a plate of horderves with a toothpick.. for munchy for the tv or lazy lunch.
