Got this straight from my doctor: Salt isn't a problem unless you have high blood pressure (and I do, so I'm out of luck), but too much sugar leads to all kinds of problems like tooth decay, weight gain, and adult-onset diabetes. Try to cut back on the sugar -- if possible, get most of your sugar from fresh fruit or canned/frozen fruit that has no sugar added and is packed in juice or water, NOT syrup -- syrup has sugar.
If you were to follow todays health guidelines, you would not be able to use most products. As with all else, salt and sugar taken in moderation. is definitely non fatal.

Salt intake raises blood pressure, and high blood pressure is a risk factor for strokes, heart attacks, and kidney disease, and sugar reinforces binging, so it will cause you to gain weight...plus any kind of addiction can't be considered good

In large amounts it can damage your liver (your blood fillter) and your arteries by harding them, this causes and increase in blood preasure which can stress your heart!
I love putting salt on food as well but there is a solution there are different types of salt!
NaCl is usual table salt where as Other salts such as potassium (k) and Calcium (Ca) salts are better for you. If you like salt and want to Add more then A brand called LoSalt is what you should use. Other salts such as sea salt have a better proportions of all the salts mentioned above!

NO!! not too much though... anything in excess is bad, you know that.
