And if so, why?

Answer:
The outside of the water melon is sprayed with pesticides. If you are not careful you can ingest some of those chemicals which can cause sickness, etc....
I haven't, and I have eaten pretty close to the green part. It might be different for each person, though
I have been eating watermelon all my life including pickled watermelon rinds and I have NEVER gotten diarrea
I have never heard of that one ! I dont think so ! We eat all the watermelon here, save the rind and I havent ever seen or heard of that ! More likely to get it from eating an unwashed watermelon that has been exposed to bacteria !
No, just eating too much watermelon does it.
no ive eaten the green part b4 ( dont reccomend it ) but i didnt get diarrhea
Just eating the red part makes me have it.
no
It's mostly made of water and bit of fibre
if that is true, i wonder why i'm not affected. from young i've been taught not to waste food/fruits, so i eat watermelon close to the rind all the time, especially when it's particularly sweet and juicy!!! :P mmm... i don't think you will get diarrhea... i'm 22 yr old with no such incident... same with my siblings and parents... :)

go ahead and eat it up if you want to!
no its good for your eyes....jk but you wont get diaria
