the usual with milk, but I wonder if there are other ways to enjoy it

Answer:
you can add a small bit of smashed ginger,1 or2 bay leaves, a small flake of cinnamon stick ,2 to 3 cloves and cardamom seeds to get a cup of "masala chai"(spiced tea).:commonly considered as Ayurveda tea which gives energy.
If you don't have all the spices ready at your hand you can just add ginger and/or cardamom. It really taste nice.only you have to simmer the whole thing for a little longer(5 to 10 minutes)
Secondly ,without using milk and sugar you can take the liquor and add some drops of lime juice and a pinch of rock salt.It is refreshing in a summer evening/afternoon.
Thirdly, there is the Tibetan version. For this add the herbs mentioned before.Do not use milk or sugar .Rather that that drop a cube of butter and a pinch of rock salt and black peeper(ground). This heals when you are suffering from cold and blocked or runny nose.
I have came across another version of tea making specially popular in Punjab. They use milk, sugar, dried root of ginger and ajwain seed and simmer for appx. 5 to 10 minutes. People say that it gives a momentary relief from pain.
Try mixing it with fruit juice, as a marinade, baking with it, steaming vegetables in it, freezing it, etc... there are many different ways to use it.
I don't know if this is what you mean, but I make it at home using whole cardamom, whole cinnamon sticks, cloves, and black peppercorns.
Tea is good with a slice of lemon
