I work at a grocery store and everyone takes plastic, but there's always that>OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Definitely plastic. They are great for trash bags in small cans. I think paper is recycled easier and is more hygienic, but from the practical point of view you are right, it is also easily torn and it has no handles

Plastic.

Many people ask for paper because they believe that by doing so they contribute to a better environment.

I would have to say plastic cloth .save paper and plastic

i prefer plastic it easier to carry, the dumbasses want to save the environment and recyle the paper i guess, although you are wasting trees by paper. PAPER IN PLASTIC. THAT WAY I CAN ALSO USE IT TO RECYCLE MY NEWSPAPERS.

Paper! However, the only food store that carries paper bags is the military commissary on the local Air Force base.

I don't care about handles on the plastic bags -- you can fit more groceries in paper bags. Things can be stacked neatly and they (usually) won't overturn in my trunk or back seat. If I have cold items, I'll have them placed in plastic and then in paper for the trip home...that way the condensation on the frozen things won't make the paper bag rip.

I reuse both the paper and plastic bags for many things in my home -- most often the plastic bags for trash in smaller cans. However, a lot of the plastic bags are useless because they have small holes around the seams in the bottom of the bag.

Also -- another reason for using paper -- a lot of cashiers or baggers (hard to find actual "baggers" in stores anymore...) will dump a hodgepodge of groceries in one plastic bag, and then before I can stop them...tie the handles in a knot so they items won't fall out. Then at home you end up having to rip the bags open to get the contents out...and there goes your opportunity to reuse the bags.

I LOVE paper bags!

PLASTIC HOLDS BETTER ESPECIALLY WITH CAN GOODS
