Now, see, I thought it was like cows. The brown ones give chocolate milk and the black and white ones give white milk. So I figured that brown eggs come from brown hens and are chocolate and white ones come from white hens and are regular eggs.

i don't know why the shells are brown, but brown eggs always have bright yellow yokes. they say coz they are fresher. i will not eat them they freak me out

The color is determined by what the chicken was fed.

The shell color is determined by the breed of chicken. Nutritionally they are identical. The only difference is the shells of brown eggs are brown & vice versa. There is no nutritioal difference. It is mostly a matter of what breed of chicken laid them. I have also seen/eaten green eggs. Honest!
