I think chocolate is a candy because it's sweet and it's also sold in the CANDY asle.
I also think chocolate could be it's own category because there are so many diffrent products with chocolate in them.

I would say both, Chocolate is in allot of different things (milk, pies, cakes,) so its independent but it also can be a candy, (example candy bars) so I would say you are both right.
