We all eat them... Sandwiches are all over the place... But who came up with the idea of putting totally different things together to make a sandwich?

Answers:
named for the very same person for whom the sandwich that we eat was named, John Montagu (1718-1792), the Fourth Earl of Sandwich

he would often ask for meat between two pieces of bread..when others saw this they would ask for whatever "Sandwich" is having

Other Answers:
it is interesting; I would have never wondered about it until this question. thanks!

A really smart person a sandwich sounds good
We may never know. The person who invented sandwiches didn't put their name down(that i know of). It could have been anyone. A caveman could have put dandelions between leaves with grass. Its a good question.
The sandwich is often connected to the Earl of Sandwich, who favored the placement of meat between pices of bread because it allowed him to continue playing cards without getting his hands dirty.
