Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days, anyone help us?
Kitty said: Yes.Why do my strawberries taste like bleach?-I try seach this on internet but no results found.Maybe this is a stupid question.
Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(Why do my strawberries taste like bleach?),it will help you,my kids.
So I bought some strawberries last night and washed them and got the stems off so I could bring them to work with me today. Well, when I was eating them a while ago, they seemed to taste more like bleach than strawberries. Does anyone know why they would be like that?
I do not know what brand they were or where they came from because I don't have the package here with me at the moment.
Anyway, they were pretty gross and I had to stop eating them.
Does anyone know how to make that taste go away so I can just enjoy the berry flavor?
Thank you all for your help.
Answer:
I only buy organic berries for this reason.
fruit is very porous and sucks up all of the chemicals from the soil that it is grown in.
not to forget the dyes and the hormones they are often treated with as well.
Darryl Hannah the actress has a wicked site and talks about what to watch for in fruit and what fruit you should avoid esp non organic.
I got the link from a store that I shop at in Santa Monica
www.rawvalution.com
they have the link there.
Simple, get a divorce. Your spouse just tried to kill you.
They are not ripe yet let them sit at room temperature for about 2-4 days until they get to the taste you want them at
may bee the container was contaminated? I hope you weren't dumb enough to wash them in bleach
many mass produced fruits and veggies are washed with sanitizers that contain bleach. I am highly allergic to it, and react terribly if exposed to it. I buy only organic to avoid it. I doubt you can rid the present batch of it, but give them a good soak, rinse and dry thoroughly. Don't you hate all the hidden ways our food supply is tampered with?
You are absolutely right. Strawberries definitely don't tast right anymore. I think they are picked too soon, and probably not allowed to ripen peoperly. Maybe it's the insectisides. I'm afraid there is no good berry flavor anymore. Maybe you can try organic strawberries. They would cost more but probably be better.
Buy organic strawberries and rinse very well. I heard that some pre-packaged salads were washed in chlorine but was not aware that they did it to fruit but they must be doing that to strawbs. as well if they taste of bleach. Yuk , If you had any left I'd take them back to the shop and complain .
You have to wait until they are really red, not the dark red, but the bright red. If it's still white like, then it ain't ready to pick or eat, and you have to wait until it's red. If you add some sugar to the strawberries, they will guaranteed to taste a whole lot better that way.
Umm not sure but if I guessed the grocery made have cleaned the racks with bleach before placing the strawberried on there, even if the bleach was washed off the smell would be strong enough to linger and stain the taste of the fruit.
prob the place where they picked them cleaned them or sometimes your refrigater makes them taste them weird try some baking soda
