I was wondering if I have to buy one of those small deep fryers for my home kitchen because I tried to make plantains (a large, starchy relative of the banana) in a skillet but they didn't cook the way I like. What do you think?

Answers:
Yes Agent invest in one - I make Maduros all the time as well and a pan just does'nt cut it. The way i had them in Miami, just barely crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside - the only way I get them like that is with a mini fryer.

You don't, however, have to spend alot of money on one. I bought a Fry Daddy from a closeout store 3 years ago for $15 and it is still going strong.

Also...I still use a fry pan for Tostones - that's the only way I can get them crunchy enough!

Other Answers:
If u like them fried, then yes of course u should!!

If you want to save money, you can use a cast iron dutch oven on the stove. It's big enough that you can keep the food submerged in hot oil. depends how you like them
thahk you

If you like them cooked in a deep fat fryer, i guess you should buy one.
