Answers: You might find several techniques and ingredients online, but a method that has always worked for me is to use powdered egg whites (they are pasturized and can be used safely even in uncooked recipes such as sugared flowers)!. Read the instructions to reconstitute them!.
Flowers that look pretty and are edible, are daisies, pansies, marigolds, violets and even dandelions!.

*******Make sure your flowers come from a reliable source and are absolutely certain they have not been sprayed with pesticides!!!*****

Pick up a flower petal with either a large sewing needle or tweezers and using a small brush (a small paintbrush works), brush on a bit of egg white!. (I prefer this method to dipping the petal into the egg white - it is neater and you don't get globs of egg white on the petal, which would take forever to dry)!.
Hold the petal over a bowl and sprinkle liberally with superfine sugar (regular sugar could work in a pinch but it doesn't stick as well, is heavier and doesn't have the diamond shine of the superfine)!.
Lay the petals on waxed paper to dry (turning over when one side feels dry to the touch)!. Use a small dot of frosting or icing to adhere the petal to the cupcakes!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Create Your Own
Edible Sugar Decorations

Using any candy makers mold you can create your own edible sugar decorations for cakes, cookies or cupcakes!.

Recipe
2 cups Granulated sugar
4 tsp Water
1/4 tsp Meringue powder
Food coloring (optional)

Mix by hand, kneading for about 1 minute until sugar is moistened and packs like wet sand!. Keep mixture covered with a damp cloth!. Add 1/4 tsp meringue powder for strength!.

To tint, substitute part liquid food color for water in recipe!. Tinted sugar makes the pretties molded decorations!.

To make sugar molds, pack the sugar mixture into mold as firmly as possible!. To make multicolored mold, start with features and press the desired tinted sugars into mold!. When making more than 4 sugar decorations from the same mold, dust mold with cornstarch to prevent sticking!. Scrape off excess sugar mixture with a spatula, so top is even with edge of mold!. Unmold sugar at once by placing cardboard over mold!. Turn mold and cardboard upside down and lift mold off releasing sugar shape!. Let dry 5 hours or in 200 degree oven for 5-10 min!.

If using a large sugar mold you can decorate with royal icing using your favorite decorator tipsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Use royal icing!.

Witon's Royal Icing
Serves/Yields: 3 Cups
Category: Frostings
Difficulty: Easy

This smooth, hard-drying icing is perfect for making decorations that last!. It is also useful as a "cement" to fasten decorations together!. Royal icing is edible, but not recommended for icing cakes!.
3 Tablespoons Wilton Meringue Powder
1 lb!. (4 cups) confectioners' sugar
6 Tablespoons warm water*

* For stiffer icing, use 1 tablespoon less water
Beat all ingredients until icing forms peaks
(7-10 minutes at low speed with a heavy-duty mixer,
10-12 minutes at high speed with a hand-held mixer)!.

NOTE:
Keep all utensils completely grease-free for proper icing consistency!. Icing will not harden properly if there is ANY amount of grease in it!.

Recipe makes 3 cups!.
-----------------

Make sure you put enough sugar!. If you spoon it out, it should retain it's shape, it should not ooze back into the mixture!. That is a sign it is too thin and will not give you flowers!.

You'll also need some decorating tools!. Icing bags and tips!. There are some tips that you can use that will give you Drop Flowers!. You put the icing in a bag with the tip!. Hold the bag straight up, put the tip down on the surface (parchment paper until icing dries) squeeze and rotate 90degrees or so, stop squeezing and lift bag!. It'll take a few tries til you get the desired flower!. Once the flower dry you can peel them off the paper and put on your cupcakes!. And check out www!.wilton!.com for tips!. When you "shop" on there you can see the different tips and what each one does!. If you choose a flower other than drop flowers you may need a flower nail to make the petals!. Oh, and the best coloring are the gel kind!. You can find it at Michaels on the cake isle!. Good luck and have fun!Www@FoodAQ@Com

violets and pansies are nice, and both easy to sugar!. make sure they are organic, and have not been exposed to pesticides!.

Whip an egg white to soft peak, until cloudy!. Dip flower into egg white, or if easier, paint egg white onto petals!. Sprinkle petals w/ superfine sugar on both sides (located by coffee condiments or by sugar) and set on a hard surface and allow to air-dry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Violets are really cute too!. Dip in egg white and then in sugar and let dry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
