I remember my grandma making what she called "browned oats". I know that the recipe included oats, shortening, and sugar(maybe brown). It was baked in the oven until brown and crispy. Some of it would stick together and you could break it into pieces and some would crumble kinda like granola. I would love to make this for my kids but I'm not sure how. If anyone has a recipe that sounds similar I would love to have it. thanks alot

Answers:
Browned Oats

1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/4 cup melted shortening, butter or margarine

Mix the dry ingredients together then stir in the melted shortening. spread out on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes
