no problem! this is for a soft breadstick, but they are wonderful with salads, spaghetti, lasagne, or just about anything.
2 3/4 cups bread flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
garlic powder (not garlic salt)
optional: dried parsley flakes and/or dried basil
two large cookie sheets either greased, or lined with
bakers parchment.
follow the directions on the packet to dissolve the dry yeast.
In a large bowl combine about half of the flour, salt and half the butter or margarine. Add 3/4 cup of warm (not hot- about 105-110 degree f) water and the dissolved yeast mixture to the dry ingredients in bowl and stir very well.
Add the remaining flour and mix until it forms a soft dough.
remove from the bowl and on a lightly floured surface knead the dough until it is completely smooth and elastic (takes about 10 minutes) remember to keep the surface lightly floured as you knead so the dough does not stick. return to the bowl and and cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
return dough to the floured surface and roll out into a long "loaf" about 2" in diameter, and using a chefs scraper or a butcher knife cut off pieces about 2" long. Roll each piece by hand into a rod of dough about 3/4" in diameter and place them on the greased or lined cookie sheets. Using remaining butter or margarine and a pastry brush, lightly brush each stick and then lightly cover each with garlic powder, and if desired basil/parsley.
Cover the cookie sheets with clean kitchen towels and allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes to an hour. bake in a 350 degree f oven20- 30 minutes or until light golden brown. cool until easily handled and serve warm with garlic butter, or with your meal. If cooled completely they may be stored in gallon sized "zip bag" and will stay good for 3-5 days (if they last that long)

ewwwwww nasty dont burn them
buy oblong dinner rolls that you have to brown and serve...brush with butter and fresh garlic (i sprinkle garlic salt as well), chopped parsely, you can sprinkle cheese like parmesan or even shredded cheese and then bake for 10 mins or so until browned You can either buy breadsticks that are already made or buy the kind in a can. For either one, add a mixture of melted butter and garlic and use a brush to apply to the breadsticks. You can use fresh garlic or spice. If you're using a bread that is already made, apply the mixture and broil for about 4 minutes - keep an eye on the break though, it can burn easily.
I make garlic bread all the time; it’s really easy, cheap, and takes very little time or effort.
What I do is mix a few shakes of garlic powder (enough to taste) with a few big dollops of butter or butter substitute (I use Brummel and Brown, which is yogurt-based) and smear the mixture onto some bread (I usually use halved rolls or soft French bread, though regular sliced bread works fine, too), then pop the bread into a 350 degree oven for a few minutes, until the edges of the bread have gone crispy. If you’re impatient, you could put the bread under the broiler instead, which is faster.
That’s all there is to it; if you want individual breadsticks, just cut the toasty garlic bread into thin slices and serve. Enjoy!
