take a big pot fill half full of water- place in a heat proof bowl with broc. in it boil water with lid on for about 15 min. or until soft
ho do? hoo doo? how do -- ahh that's it.
I usually steam my broccoli in a steamer. If you don't have a steamer basket you are out of luck until you go to WallyWorld and get one. Then put only about an inch of water in the bottom of your pot. Cut the broccoli into bite size pieces and put it into the steamer basket. Put the steamer basket in the pot, so that the bottom of the broccoli is above the water level. Turn on the heat, cover the pot and bring the water to a boil. Steam for about 5 minutes, then check the tenderness. It may need more time. Use your best judgement as to how tender you want it, but don't overcook. You don't want mushy broccoli.
Boil some water then put a striner with the broccoli then allow to cook for 5 to 10 min.
If you have a steamer refer to the instructions. I just put the brocolli in a saucepan but put less water in than I would if I was boiling it. Be careful though, once I didn't put enough water in and it boiled off and burned! It should take about 10-15 minutes, give it a poke with a fork to check when it's done! Steaming is much healthier than boiling and the veg has more flavour.
if you have a steamer put in bottom of pan with water up to the bottom of the steamer (if you don't have a steamer use a tuna can with unbreakable plate on top that allows the steam to rise around it when put into the cookpot). cut broccoli to size and boil water on high for about 5 minutes, remove pot from stove top and continue to let it steam for another 5 minutes.
Steam with Sea Bass.

My Brain
Use a med. sauce pan w/ lid, fill bottom of pan, approx. 1" w/ H2o
bring to a boil, set a streamer rack in(or use a sm. metal pie tin turned upside down)cover. Then cook to desired firmness.
you can wash broccoli, put them in the strainer, season with finely choped garlic, oregano, olive oil, then place the strainer on a saucer with boiling water, cover, and let it steam like this for about 10 minutes... check it before taking off. maybe it would need a litle bit more of time.
The best way is by using one of those basket type bamboo steamers that you can buy in any Asian market.
Put in the broccoli flowerettes and put the steamer basket on a pan with boiling water. The steam will percolate through the holes in the bottom of the steamer and cook your broccoli to perfection.
If you are feeling less adventerous they make frozen veggies in a bag that steams them for you. it is really easy and the broc comes out perfectly.
Bird's eye makes them.....
great for beginners :)
