1) Place eggs in a pan and cover with cold water.
2) Cover the pan tightly and place on high heat.
3) Bring to a boil.
4) Remove from heat. Set timer for ten minutes.
5) When the timer goes off, drain off the water and give the pan a gentle shake, back-and-forth and side-to-side. This helps make the eggs easier to peel. (Hang on, I'll explain that in a moment.)
6) Refill the pan with cold water or ice cubes and water. Wait about 20 minutes so the eggs will get well chilled.

At this point, I would peel a couple of the eggs and eat them, because they're cooked just enough to set the yolk without making it too stiff and that's how I like them. Then you can dye the rest. Have fun.

After the water starts boiling real good, turn the heat off and let it sit there for 10 minutes. For it to cool off I usually wait about 10-15 minutes, just put them in the fridge for awhile.

Depending on how many you are cooking. 20 minutes is usually really good. Bring them to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Then turn the heat of the pot and let the eggs sit in the pot covered for 10 minutes ~ hard boiled and nice.

Cooling to paint, I would definately leave them an hour and if they are still hot to touch, then longer. After they are cooked, shock them with cold water and let them sit in that for about 10 minutes.

1. Cold water at least 1 inch about egg(s)

2. Heat to boiling in saucepan; remove from heat. Cover and let stand 18 minutes. Immediately cool briefly in cold water to prevent further cooking. Tap egg to crack shell; roll egg between hands to loosen shell, then peel.

3. If shell is hard to peel, hold egg in cold water while peeling. 15 minutes 4 healthy eggs.
