As I answered a similar question before, Indonesian (similar to Maylay) and Moroccan food are not only delicious but unusual in flavor, and not found on every corner as restaurants. The recipes are too long (although not really complicated) for me to list, so look up on search engines. Paula Wolfert's "World of Food" is a great cookbook for many Moroccan and similar dishes.
I have prepared many of these dishes for entertaining in different parts of the country, and they have ALWAYS been a hit, even with fussy eaters.
Names of some of the favorite Moroccan dishes-
B'stilla (Chicken phillo dough pie)
Tagines (assorted meat types-stews with layered herbs and spices)
Indonesian-
"Riijstafel" (Rice Table in Dutch-fomer colony of Holland)
Gado-gado
satay
nasi goreng
