Make some brown gravy and put it in the crock pot with 1/2 pt. sour cream and some thawed, frozen meat balls. Steam some rice or make some noodles and serve the meatballs on top. Goes well with a premade salad and dessert.
Hot dogs. Get the really good ones (not the cheap tinned ones). Serve in small baguettes (not finger rolls). Get some nice toppings, like mustards, ketchup, coleslaw, cheese slices etc. Buy a large mixed bag of salad and a nice dressing, slice a few tomatoes and fry some onions before the match. You can heat them up after.

you take flour torlillas or wraps any flavor, then I mix 8 ounces cream cheese, half cup of mayo, chopped pepperoni, ham or any other meat, green onions, pimentos, black olives, any other veggie, spread evenly on tortilla, roll up like a burrito, wrap in plastic wrap tightly and let sit over night, then slice and eat, yummy!

Make a huge stir fry! Takes about 10 minutes and most prep work can be done before the match (shredding veg, soaking noodles - or better still - opening the packets). Stir Fry's allow you to add just what everyone will eat and so are flexible. For the meat, thin strips of steak or chicken take about 10 mins to cook (or you can throw in pre-cooked prawns - or even pre-cooked strips of meat).
Stir fry always looks like you've made more effort than you actually have, are colourful so they appeal to children too and they are good for you.

Oven cooked battered fish and chips ( buy frozen in supermarket)- switch oven on - allow to heat up for 10 mins or so - put in fish. 10 mins later put in chips - 20mins later - bingo - dinner! Go mad & heat tinned mushy peas in microwave for 3 mins for a totally delicious & tasty meal. Serve with ketchup! Serve on paper plates - no washing up!
How about Pizzas, you can just shove them in the oven and 15/20 mins later they are done, plus you can have all different kinds to appease everyone, and the kids will eat it!

As an added bonus on time-keeping, ask one other adult who loves cooking to help. If you’re out going out to watch the game, follow the instructions below.
Don’t be scared, and give it a whirl! That’s my rule when I’m planning a meal!
The following is from a Good Food freebie dated March 2006, called Mexican Supper Pot. It would go down a treat with a large group of people, served at any point during the afternoon, especially after a match. The recipe originally serves four BUT can be easily doubled, so that generous portions are allowed. Just watching the match can be quite physically draining… so beware of hungry vultures!
WARNING: Try to make sure that people don’t eat or drink mountainous amounts and destroy their appetites before they have even advanced upon the meal!
Get cracking!
First, make sure that no-one is allergic to any of the ingredients or doesn’t enjoy eating a particular item of food, so that you have got time enough to hunt for a replacement. Use party plates and cutlery – saves on the washing up!
Second, prepare all the ingredients before the match; get someone to help (keep ingredients in the fridge, so that they are ready when you are). Make 2 batches for 12 people – don’t forget to have ready, 2 medium saucepans. Orchestrate the prep and cooking times so that they are in sync!
Thirdly, EITHER ….
Follow cooking instructions after returning home (that is if you have gone out to watch the match), inform everyone that the meal will be ready in 30mins tops
OR…
Follow instructions to the end of point 2 during half time (if watching the match at home) and watch the remainder of the match while the meal is cooking. When finished, reduce flames under your saucepan(s); this way the meal is ready AFTER the match has finished and, more importantly, YOU HAVEN’T MISSED A MINUTE!
Prep: 20 mins COOK 25 mins
Ingredients: *2tbsp sunflower/vegetable oil *1 onion, chopped *450g/1lb pork/turkey mince * 400g can chopped tomatoes *3tbsp tomato puree *2 x 250g ready-cooked Mexican rice (see NOTE) *handful of fresh parsley, roughly chopped *plain tortilla chips, to serve
1.Heat the oil in a medium saucepan until hot, tip in the onion and let it sizzle and turn golden (4-5 mins) as you stir occasionally. Add the mince and cook until it’s no longer pink, stirring to break it up and scarping the bottom of the pan so it doesn’t stick. If it does stick, add a splash of oil.
2.Tip the tomatoes into the mince, then fill the can with water and pour this into the pan. Add tomato puree, give it all a good stir, then let it come to the boil. Simmer, covered, for 25 mins to cook the mince through.
3.Stir in the rice from both packets and let it heat through, then stir in the parsley before serving with tortilla chips on the side.
NOTE: Discovery Mexican Rice is a blend of cooked spicy rice and beans that just needs heating up. If you can’t get hold of it, use some weight packs of pre-cooked basmati rice perked up with half tsp of chilli powder and a small can of kidney beans.

feta cheese
a viniagrette dressing
Mix ingredients together and add dressing before serving.
People can help themselves to the salad.
YANKEE POT ROAST
Pot roast using the slow cooker/crock pot is the only way to go!
Start it when you wake up, so by the time the game is on, its ready! If the game is early, then cook it on low right before you go to bed.
5 lb chuck roast
2 pkg onion soup mix, dry
2 cans cream mushroom soup, campbells
1 whole celery bunch, diced
2 onions, diced
4 whole carrots, peeled and cut
5 potatoes, peeled and cut in 1/2
1 crushed garlic cloves
5 tbsp flour
In the crock pot, add cream mushroom soups, 2 cans of water, the lipton dry soups, flour and mix the ingredients well.
Add the roast and the garlic. Mix around til covered with soup mix. Add the onions and veggies. Add water to barely cover the veggies (remember the water level may go up during cooking!).
If potatoes won't fit, then cook them separately (ie: roast, mashed, as chips, etc.)
Cover and turn crock pot to medium/high.
Cook 6-8 hours and it will be so tender! If you need to cook overnight, keep low!
JELLO DESSERT
3 pkgs large jello, same flavor
2 coolwhip
fresh fruits
Make the jello as on the package but use 1/2 cup less water per package. In a non metalic bowl, add jello and Add fresh fruit like fresh strawberries, grapes, chopped apples. Let it chill for 4-6 hours (or make it the night before). Mix up the jello and add 1/2 tub of cool whip. Add more if desired. Mix well, and its like an ambrosia.
Serve in glass cups and top with more fresh fruit.
