If one mixes baking soda and vinegar together there is no need to shake or stir. The combination will chemically mix and cause a lot of carbon dioxide. If you mix the two there will be a fizz. if it is in a closed container get away now.

But if this is for a recipe, you may want to stir in your dry baking soda, then add your vinegar w/ wet ingredients, so the air bubbles produced arenot lost prior to baking, as this is what will make yoru cake rise.

Either one will result in a violent reaction with tons of bubbles and foam, fizzing, and little spats of water flying off in all directions. Are you just doing this for fun?
