I have been thinking about eating some tofu. Does anyone have any good recipies with tofu?

Answers:
I used to hate tofu until my sister cooked it for me.
When you are using tofu in things like a stir fry you must buy extra firm tofu, which I still drain for an hour to get excess water out then I marinade to get flavour in (sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger is a good combo). Then I just fry it up to include in my stir fry like I would normally have used meat.

I have not tried this recipe but it sounds like one that my sister would make. YUMMY!

Tofu Peanut Stir-Fry
"This is absolutely the best way to eat tofu, especially for first timers. The tofu has a slightly crunchy exterior while the inside is nice and soft. I used to make my stir-fry with chicken or beef, but my husband won't have it any other way than tofu now! And my 2 year old loves it! It is a delicious, easy, quick, and inexpensive meal. Serve with Asian noodles or with steamed rice. Enjoy!"

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
* 1 (16 ounce) package frozen stir-fry vegetables
* 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
* salt and pepper to taste
* 2 eggs, beaten
* 1 cup cornstarch
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1 (14 ounce) package firm tofu, drained and cubed
* 1/2 cup vegetable oil
* 3/4 cup peanut sauce
* 1/4 cup chopped peanuts

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat, and cook the vegetables until tender. Mix in the ginger, and season with salt and pepper. Remove vegetables from skillet, and set aside.
2. Place the eggs in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Dip tofu cubes first in the egg, then the cornstarch mixture to coat.
3. Heat the remaining oil in the skillet or wok over medium heat, and cook the coated tofu 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Stir in the peanut sauce and peanuts. Continue to cook and stir until sauce has thickened and tofu is well-coated. Serve with the vegetables.

Other Answers:
Don't even try it. The only way to make it good is bacon grease
No, can't stand the stuff
no thanks.. none for me...please.
no no no hate da stuff..........
You need to freeze it and defrost it before you use it or the texture will be slimy.

It doesn't taste of much, cut it in cubes and put it in a well flavoured sauce.
No thanks..
It doesn't taste like anything until you put it in something. like we tried tacos. but we made the mistake of making regular tacos with all the stuff then put tofu in, lol. it was fine didn't taste it. I suggest you look for vegan or vegetarian forums then ask for recipes.
To get an idea of how tofu is supposed to be prepared. Go to a proper chinese restaurant and order several dishes. Tofu on its own has a very subtle taste. Thus the need for great sauces. Anything from sweet soy to sweet peanut sauce are great with tofu which has been deep fried so that the outside is golden brown and the inside is still soft.

Years of eating tofu.
I love Tofu.
I guess I'm the odd one here, but I love tofu. Cut it in cubes, dip in egg wash, then flour, deep fry. You can dip them in sweet sauce, hot mustard, very good.

When I'm making a stir fry, I throw in chunky of tofu. Don't be too rough or they will fall apart. Tofu will take on any flavor of which they are cooked with. Buy the extra firm. Cheers!
