Here are some friends with simlar question as we.And I have this question for many days,anyone help us?

I just recently became vegetarian and I'm looking for more ways to prepare tofu. I've done stir-fry, tofu parm, and tofu scrambled eggs so far. Any other ideas?

Answers:
am a tofu recipes collector so I have a few cook books for tofu.

Always drain out the water. If the tofu really jiggle, it's soft tofu. Soft tofu is use for Dessert, dips, and salad. Medium tofu use for soup and most main course. Firm tofu is use for frying (pan-fry in 1/2 inches slices, or stuff and coat lightly with cornstarch for deep frying. The followings are my most favorite recipes, hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

For dessert:
Soft Tofu with one small can of Fruit Cocktail or Tropical Fruit.

For Soup:
1/2 pack of Medium firm tofu, snow pea leaves, Fish fillet (cut into pieces), vegetable stock or chicken stock.

1. Stir-fry fish fillet over medium heat.
2. Add tofu and stock, stir gently
3. When bubbling, add snow pea leaves and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Serve warm.

For main course:

Ma Po Tofu:
Minced pork (Optional if you are a vegetarian)
Oyster Sauce
Chopped green onion
Medium Firm Tofu, cut into cubes
Salt & Pepper to taste

1. Pan fry minced pork until fully cooked
2. Add enough oyster sauce to cover pork
3. Add handful of green onion
4. When the suace is bubbling add tofu and stir gently
5. Turn off heat and serve when the sauce is bubbling.



California Tofu Delight

Ingredient:
1 package (14 oz) Hinoichi Tofu, drained and cut into 5 pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 large ripen tomatoes, diced
1/3 cup chopped cilantro
1 onion, thinly sliced and soaked in salt water for 30 minutes and drained
1 teaspoon minced green onion

Method:
1. Season tofu slices with salt and pepper, pan fry in olive oil until both sides are golden brown.
2. Mix tomatoes, cilantro, and onions adding salt and pepper to taste.
3. Place tofu on plate and pour tomato mixture on top.

Other Answers:
Stir-frying has many variations. Try mixing it with different sauces, etc. It'll seem like a completely different dish; how about a crisped tofu salad or a hot tofu soup?

I make a chinese tofu salad by cooking the tofu in the sweet and sour salad dressing which I mix up from scratch each time. Appetizers

HOT AND SOUR SOUP

1 PCKG OF LENTILS
2 POUNDS OF EXTRA FIRM TOFU FROZEN THEN THAWED WITH THE WATER SQUEZZED OUT AND CUT INTO 1 INCH CHUNKS
1 ONION DICED
4 CLOVES OF GARLIC DICED
2 TS OF SALT
1 TS OF ONION POWDER
MONGOLIAN FIRE OIL TO TASTE
SOY SAUCE TO TASTE
1 CAN OF SOUR KRAUT DRAINED

COOK LETILS ALONG WITH THE ONION AND GARLIC WITH ENOUGH WATER TO COVER THEM FOR 1 HOUR (CONT ADDING WATER IF LEVEL GET TOO LOW SO IT DOESNT BURN ON THE BOTTOM)
ADD ALL OTHER INGREDIANTS WITH ENOUGH WATER TO KEEP IT A SOUPY CONSISTANCY OR IT WILL BURN COOK FOR ANOTHER 30 MIN.
THIS IS MY WIFES RECIPE AND IT IS VERY GOOD IVE MADE IT SEVERAL TIMES AND IT MAKES GREAT LEFTOVERS BECAUSE IT TASTE BETTER IF YOU LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT.

TOFU SALAD

you will need tofu,water crease, tomato, round onion, [canned salmon optional], shoyu, sugar, vegetable oil or canned salmon oil. When making salad, just use your judgment on amount of vegetable you want to use.

1/2 tray tofu cut into cubes
1/2 bunch water crease 1/2 in. to 1 in. cuts
1/2 round onion diced
1 tomato diced
[OPTIONAL]
1 can salmon mashed with hands or fork

Dressing- cook in a small pot or sauce pan for about 3min. just to desolve the sugar.
1/2 cup shoyu - regular or low sodium
1 Tbsp sugar - you may also use a sugar substitute product instead of the refine sugar. If using packets, use only 1/2 to 1 packet. You can always taste to adjust flavor.

1 Tbsp vegetable oil OR use the oil from the salmon can. [juice and oil from the salmon adds a nice flavor.] If you like the flavor of sesame seed oil, you may also add it to the dressing. Just a little goes a long away. Do not substitute for other oil.


Know to layer the salad, you can use what every deep dish you have available.

1.) "IF" you want to use salmon, put the mashed salmon down,
2.) layer your diced tomato
3.) layer your diced round onions
4.) layer your cut water crease
5.) pour shoyu mixer over the top of your salad
You may refrigerate your salad for 1/2 an hour or you can just KOU KOU! [EAT!]
