Answers:
I don't have any scientific evidence to support it but I would never put a good vine-ripe tomato in the fridge. I think it degrades the flavor and texture. Fortunately, fresh tomatoes don't sit around long in my house.
Other Answers:
stays fresher longer in the fridge
In the fridge tomatoes get mealy and lose flavor. Left out, they go bad faster.
see the reason why a tomato is a fruit is because it still ripens after it is picked, so i like to keep tomatoes that are not quite ripe out of the fridge, and i dont buy more than i need
Don't put a tomato in the fridge, a tomato like everything else has pores. If you have smells or other things in your fridge they will be absorbed by your tomato. The best thing to do is store a tomato in a room temperature place. If it is not fully ripe (which most are not) place in a window sill for 1 day or place in a brown paper bag for 2 days.
