That is a very popular fish in my country, Portugal, and we have an important industry of canning tuna fish especially in the South. Though my favorite way of eating fresh tuna steaks is grilled, there is this recipe, typical in the South of Portugal: fry sliced onions in olive oil, then sliced tomatoes, add garlic and bay leaf, some minutes later add the tuna steaks and season with salt and pepper; when a side is done turn the steaks until done (doesn't take long). Serve with white rice, or potato chips, or french fries, or mashed potato (puree).
Romantic meal, huh? Lucky you! A good wine is in order!!

It's very easy to overcook-don't leave it on too long! You want to use a fairly hot fire, or setting, so that the outside gets braised quickly, leaving the inside tender. Get olive oil, fresh lemon juice, black pepper, granulated garlic, salt, oregano, and a little bit of dijon mustard. Rub it around the tuna steak, put it on a fry pan and cook from both sides, make sure some solution is left for basting. Voila! there you have it. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Grilled w/ cajun spices and corn on he cob....yeah buddy grilling it is great!!!
I'd marinate it some soy sauce for like 15 mins. before putting it on the grill.
Serve it up with some new potatoes and some asparagus.
VIOLA Quick simple and delicious:
Tuna
Combine Paprika,cumin,black pepper,salt,lemon zest,cayenne pepper with a little
olive oil to make a thick paste.
Press only the edges of tuna steak into mixture to coat
Sear in olive oil cast iron pan 2 minutes a side for rare
Serve with a cold mango salsa for contrast to the heat

Tuna-ka-bobs
3-4 lbs fresh tuna steaks cubed, 20 - 30 button mushrooms, 2
zucchini slice 1/2inch, red onion wedged, red and yellow bell peppers wedged, and
cherry tomatoes. marinade all ingredients in your favorite Italian dressing for
6 - 8 hrs, place on skewers sprinkle with TONY CHACHERE'S seasoning and grill
over medium heat on your outdoor grill and baste ka-bobs with excess marinade as
they cook! to change it up a little you can use your favorite blackening
seasoning!! when veggies start to brown on the out side, your tuna will be done
to a nice pink shade on the inside........enjoy Grill it, and serve with a tomato and onion sauce. That's what we did in Cantabria, Spain.
