I would like cook more often even though I live in a college dorm :(. I used to do a grocery based on nutrition (fruit, veggies, source of protein, rice or pasta). But I always end up doing thing same thing, rice with veggies with meat.
What should I always have around so I can just come home and improvise something to eat? Something healthy.
I somehow get the feeling that other people are just better at grocery shopping then me and can make a meal out of pretty much anything.
Any ideas? What do chefs always have in their fridge?

rice, ragu sauce, olive oil, carrots, corn, potatoes, pasta..
i think the ingredients you get really depends on your style of cooking, maybe try adding something diffrent to what you make already or substitue rice w/ potato or just make something diffrent altogether. i suggest the Food Networks website for recipies, www.foodnetwork.com.. they're even 30 minute meals!
and try not to compare yourself, just be open-minded to trying other things. maybe look up a recipe for something you like eating at a restaurant. :)
Pasta....it's so versatile.
Pasta, frozen chicken strips, boneless chicken breasts, rice, etc. Check the food network recipe site for ideas too:

Cheese.
I use a lot of shredded cheese and parmesan cheese.
onions and stuffing mix like stove top are also good things that go with a lot. Not necessarily great for gourmet stuff, but for someone like you - it's a good thing to have around.
Buy stewed tomoatoes too. It's in a lot of soups.
Check out kraftfoods.com website. They have it so you can choose your recipes and set up a grocery list on the site and it will combine the ingredients from all the recipes for you so that you will have what you need in advance. The recipes are easy to make and ingredients aren't expensive and are tasty and easy to find.
