No!. Sour cream is cream that has been acidulated, ie allowed to go sour, or the quick method that we Latvians use when we have run out is to add a few drops of lemon juice and mix well!. This is perfectly acceptable!.
To get really good soured cream which keeps well is to go into a shop selling Polish products and buy something called Smetana or Smietana which is far superior to the stuff you get in UK normally!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
